The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) ended the week on a high note, as the benchmark index DFMGI soared by 2.27% or 113.11 pts and closed at 5,097.82 pts, surging above the 5,000-pt barrier and nearing the level of 5,100 pts.
Around 367.015 million shares were traded at a turnover of AED 1.33 billion through the execution of 6,559 transactions.
A total of 32 companies traded on DFM today, of which 22 were in the green, 6 were in the red and 4 remained unchanged.
The real estate sector led Thursday’s gains surging by 3.45%, as all its shares performed positively. Emaar Properties and soared by 5%, followed by Arabtec, which added 1.05%.
The investment and banking sectors followed, adding 2.03% and 1.42%, respectively. The investment sector was supported by SHUAA, DFM and Dubai Investments rose by 5%, 2.54% and 1.92%, respectively.
Experts believe that the decline in liquidity in UAE markets at present is natural during initial public offerings (IPOs) as investors seek to have large amounts of cash whether for the purpose of taking part in the IPO or to purchase new companies’ stocks following their listing.
